A significant number of residents experienced power outages Thursday afternoon, including parts of Spring Hill and Columbia. In a post to social media, Columbia Power and Water Systems said it is well aware of the outages, and has since restored power to the Columbia area, while diligently working to restore the Spring Hill outages. CPWS is also trying to determine exactly what could have caused the issue in the first place. As of 7:22 p.m. Thursday, CPWS posted, "We are aware of power outages in South Columbia, North Columbia and the Spring Hill area.
