Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee punctuated a Nov. 21 economic development announcement with exactly the bravado you would expect of a state's leader revealing details of a $3.2 billion electric vehicle battery plant headed for Clarksville. "Tennessee has become the center of the automotive universe in this country," Lee crowed at the mic. Governors of other states (Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, South Carolina, Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, etc.) would argue otherwise. But there's no disputing this: LG Chem's decision drives home the reality that Tennessee sits in a prime spot to attract electric vehicle investments, which are coming fast and furious and at a record-shattering scale.
